The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
