The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
