The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
