The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
