The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
