The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
