The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who has taught (the writing) by the pen [the first person to write was Prophet Idrees (Enoch)]. 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
