The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
