By the moon, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 about the sinners. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
