The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the angels who glide swimmingly, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
