۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 “Instead of Allah and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side. 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 Fruits, and they shall be highly honored, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Are we not then to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 yet they run in their footsteps, 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
