So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 If they say, "He is but a poet; we are waiting for some misfortune to befall him," 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people? 32 Do they say: 'He has invented it' No, they do not believe. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers? 37 Have they a stairway whereby they overhear? Then let their listener bring an authority manifest. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or desire they to outwit? The unbelievers, they are the outwitted. 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up. 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped. 46 And verily for those who do wrong there is a torment before that; but most of them know not. 47 And so, await in patience thy Sustainer's judgment, for thou art well within Our sight. And extol thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise whenever thou risest up, 48 And in the night time, also glorify His Praises, and at the setting of the stars. 49
