The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And We gave them Our Signs, but they were averse to them. 81 And they hewed houses in the mountains in security. 82 An explosion struck them in the morning. 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 And We have not created the heaven and the earth and that which is in between them save with a purpose. And verily the Hour is surely coming; so overlook thou with a seemly overlooking, 85 Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 86 We have given you the seven oft-recited verses and the great Quran. 87 Do not stretch your eyes to that We have given pairs of them to enjoy, nor sorrow for them, and lower your wing to the believers. 88 And say thou: verily I! I am a plain warner. 89 Such as We send down for those who make division, 90 And severed their Scripture into fragments. 91 By your Lord, We will question them all 92 about whatever they had been doing! 93 Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah. 94 Verily We will suffice unto thee against the mockers. 95 Who place other gods besides God. They will come to know soon. 96 Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say, 97 Glorify and praise your Lord and be with those who prostrate themselves before God. 98 and serve thy Lord, until the Certain comes to thee. 99
