The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
