Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 therein every wise bidding 4 an order from Us. We are ever sending. 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. 7 There is no god except He. He revives and causes to die. (He is) your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 Nay, but they [who lack inner certainty] are but dying with their doubts. 9 Then watch thou for the Day that the sky will bring forth a kind of smoke (or mist) plainly visible, 10 engulfing the people; this will be a painful punishment. 11 Thereupon they will say, “O our Lord! Remove the punishment from us – we now accept faith.” 12 How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 If We remove the torment a little, you revert back (to misdeeds). 15 On the Day whereon We assault them with the greatest assault, verily We shall take vengeance. 16 ۞ And We had already tried before them the people of Pharaoh, and there came to them a noble messenger, 17 Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you. 18 And that do not exalt yourselves against Allah, surely I will bring to you a clear authority: 19 “And I take the refuge of my Lord and yours, against your stoning me.” 20 If you do not want to believe, leave me alone". 21 Then he called upon his Lord: these are a people guilty. 22 (He was told): “Set out with My servants by night for you will certainly be pursued. 23 "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned." 24 How much they left behind of gardens and springs 25 And corn-fields and noble buildings, 26 and good things in which they took delight. 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. 29
