The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 178 So fear God and follow me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 and have fear of Him Who created you and the earlier generations." 184 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched, 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said, 'My Lord knows very well what you are doing.' 188 But they cried him lies; then there seized them the chastisement of the Day of Shadow; assuredly it was the chastisement of a dreadful day. 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
