(The tribe of) Thamud rejected warnings 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 “And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.” 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 Verily We! We sent upon them a gravel-storm save the household of Lut; them We delivered at early dawn. 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 We said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
