The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
