S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 They marvel now that, from among themselves, a warner has come to them. The unbelievers say: 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And the leader among them go away (impatiently), (saying), "Walk ye away, and remain constant to your gods! For this is truly a thing designed (against you)! 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or is it that the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? If so, let them ascend up with means (to the heavens)! 10 [But] there it is: any and all human beings, however [strongly] leagued together, are bound to suffer defeat [whenever they refuse to accept the truth]. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was not one of them but treated their messengers as liars, so My punishment rightly overtook them: 14
