Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that none has power over him! 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Thinks he that none sees him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 What will explain to you what the ascent is? 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 Of a related orphan, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 Those who do so are the people of the right hand, 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
