We sent revelations to Moses telling him, "Travel with My servants during the night and strike a dry road across the sea (for them). Have no fear of being overtaken (by the Pharaoh) nor of anything else". 77 So Firaun went after them with his army – therefore the sea enveloped them, the way it did. 78 The Pharaoh had led his people astray, and did not rightly guide them. 79 O Children of Israel! We delivered you from your enemy, and We made a covenant with you on the right side of the Mount, and We sent down to you Al-Manna and quails, 80 “Eat the good clean things We have provided you, and do not exceed the limits in respect of it causing My wrath to descend upon you; and indeed the one on whom My wrath descended, has fallen.” 81 But I am most forgiving towards him who turns in repentance and believes and acts righteously and follows the right path." 82 ۞ And (it was said): What hath made thee hasten from thy folk, O Moses? 83 He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased." 84 Said He, 'We have tempted thy people since thou didst leave them. The Samaritan has misled them into error.' 85 Moses returned to his people full of wrath and grief, and said: "My people! Has your Lord not made good an excellent promise He made to you? And has a long time passed since those promises were fulfilled? Or was it to incur the wrath of your Lord that you broke your promise with me?" 86 They said: "We broke not the promise to thee, as far as lay in our power: but we were made to carry the weight of the ornaments of the (whole) people, and we threw them (into the fire), and that was what the Samiri suggested. 87 And he extracted for them [the statue of] a calf which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot." 88 What? Did they not see that thing returned no speech unto them, neither had any power to hurt or profit them? 89
