Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Dawn 1 And by ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, 6 Iram of the pillars, 7 the like of whom no nation was ever created in the lands of the world? 8 And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands, 11 And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. 12 Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 No indeed; but you honour not the orphan, 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 And love wealth with all your heart. 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, 22 And on that Day hell will be brought [within sight]; on that Day man will remember [all that he did and failed to do]: but what will that remembrance avail him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 None punisheth as He will punish on that day! 25 And His bonds will be such as none other can bind. 26 O the contented soul! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 Enter thou My Paradise!' 30
