Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 Then by oath of those which distribute by the command. 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 your ideas are confused. 8 Let whoever wishes, turn away from Our Quran. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 Receiving what is given them by their Lord. They were surely the virtuous before this. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised; 22 This, by the Lord of the heavens and the earth is as certain as your ability to speak. 23
