The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
