The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Allah, the Most Gracious 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 He hath created man. 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon are made punctual. 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 Lord of both the Easts, and Lord of both the Wests! 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 His are the lofty ships, that rear aloft on the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
