Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It shall come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 of what avail to them will be all their past enjoyments? 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), warn your closest relatives. 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 And they speak what they do not do? 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
