He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
