The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
