NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until death approached us". 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
