The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Who will be honoured 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
