He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
