And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 We said, "Stamp your foot! Here is cool water for you to wash in and drink," 42 And We bestowed on him (again) his household and therewith the like thereof, a mercy from Us, and a memorial for men of understanding. 43 "And take in your hand a bundle of thin grass and strike therewith (your wife), and break not your oath. Truly! We found him patient. How excellent (a) slave! Verily, he was ever oft-returning in repentance (to Us)! 44 And make mention of Our bondmen, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, men of parts and vision. 45 Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter. 46 They were, in Our sight, truly, of the company of the Elect and the Good. 47 And commemorate Isma'il, Elisha, and Zul-Kifl: Each of them was of the Company of the Good. 48 This is a Message (of admonition): and verily, for the righteous, is a beautiful Place of (Final) Return,- 49 the Gardens of eternity with gates thrown wide open to them. 50 Therein will they recline (at ease): Therein can they call (at pleasure) for fruit in abundance, and (delicious) drink; 51 ۞ And with them will be virgins of refraining looks and of equal age. 52 This is what you, [the righteous], are promised for the Day of Account. 53 this, verily, shall be Our provision [for you,] with no end to it! 54 This: and verily for the exorbitant there shall be an evil retreat: 55 Hell, in which they will burn. How vile a resting place! 56 (They will be told), "This is your recompense. 57 And other torments, like thereof, conjoined. 58 This is a troop entering with you (in Hell), no welcome for them! Verily, they shall burn in the Fire! 59 They will say, "Nor you! No welcome for you. You, [our leaders], brought this upon us, and wretched is the settlement." 60 [And] they will pray: "O our Sustainer! Whoever has prepared this for us, double Thou his suffering in the fire!" 61 But why is it that we cannot see men whom we had considered as wicked 62 What, did we take them for a laughing-stock? Or have our eyes swerved away from them?' 63 Verily, that is the very truth, the mutual dispute of the people of the Fire! 64
