The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
