The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
