The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
