۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 other than Allah, and guide them to the Path of Hell! 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And you shall not be rewarded except (for) what you did. 39 But the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah,- 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 And they will all turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their father going astray 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
