The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
