He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 And produce therein corn, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
