[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 He said, "My Lord has full knowledge of all your actions." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
