The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
