The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 and gently take it away; 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 And he said: I am your Lord, most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
