The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 And the roof exalted, 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
