He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
