Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions ranged! 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
