The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
