The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 By the angels who release with gentle release. 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 Upon the day when the first blast shivers 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
