He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
