Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 They therefore disobeyed the Noble Messengers of their Lord – so He seized them with an intense seizure. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels shall be on the sides thereof; and above them eight shall bear on that day your Lord's power. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In high empyrean 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
