The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
