Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
